Success Stories
The following are comments from some of the families that have adopted a companion animal from us sharing their experiences with their new family member.
Simba
Adopted July 2009
Simba came to me as a foster, and I instantly fell in love! He is just so full of energy and so loving.
He became instant friends with my other dogs and they are always playing and wrestling.
He was the perfect addition to our little family, we couldn't be more happy with him! Sue Beers

Buddy
Adopted November 2008
He was saved by Jill B. who tells us that she had been interested in him for a while. She kept seeing his picture in the paper but was hesitant because she already had pets. Then one day her daughter decided that he would be the perfect birthday gift for Jill. After the first arranged visit with his foster "mom", Buddy was a hit with the whole family. Even the older cat didn't seem to find anything wrong with him. "He's just the sweetest boy" Jill says. "Christmas came early for all of us!" Jill B.

Walter
Adopted October 2008
He came to us under very sad circumstances. His mother, Mrs. Marie Silzer, passed away leaving a dozen loved, and well cared for cats behind. We were particularly worried about Walter because he had only three legs, and unfortunately, many potential adopters would find that undesirable. But, luckily Walter found his angel, Courtney A., who rescued him. As you can see, he's become quite the fashion statement in his new home. Courtney tells us that he just loves his costume and purrs the whole time he has it on. He even poses for the pictures!

Toby
Adopted August 2008
Toby, described as a border collie mix, came to us as a puppy about three years ago. Shortly thereafter, he was adopted by a family who earlierthis year asked the Humane Society to help them take care of Toby, so he was temporarily placed in a foster home. After a few months, the family realized they could no longer provide the kind of care Toby deserves, so they released Toby to the Humane Society. Within a week of advertisinf Toby's availability, he was adopted by a local couple who already has a aten yeaar old female dog named Smokey. Just a week after the adoption, Toby’s new parents said Toby adjusted to his home “rather quickly and exceptionally well...he already has his favorite places and spots" They also report, "Toby and Smokey immensely enjoy each other’s company and have fun together." The Humane Society’s foster is glad that Toby and his new family are happy, "Toby is a great dog, a perfect family pet. He loves playing fetch. It was so fun to watch him jump and catch balls on a bounce, and just soak up attention." Toby’s new parents assure us that, "Toby is very much loved and will be given the best care possible." They said they are, "thrilled with Toby",and, "find him absolutely delightful." Mia K.

Belle
Adopted January 2008
"She came into my life in January of this year, and i was going to foster her for the Humane Society. Belle was a one-year, small, very-mixed breed, who was absolutely terrified of everyone and everything. She spent her first year on a chain, in an outdoor pen, with very little heman contact, and only the company of her two siblings and mother. I knew I had my work cut out for me! Still, she bonded very quickly, and enjoyed playing with some puppies I also was fostering at the time, as well as my old Lab mix (when she could entice him to join her!). After about a month or so, I knew I could not let her go. Despite her background, her sweet and enthusiastic nature was incredible (the vet agreed), and she has become a source of great joy" Candy
