Volunteer
Humane Society of Culpeper volunteers devote their time in a myriad of ways, from a few hours a year to regular weekly commitments. It's incredibly rewarding to witness the joy of both the animals and their new families as these special bonds begin to form. Besides that, our volunteers are dedicated, passionate, and fun, so you're sure to meet some great (human) friends along the way.

Adoption Events
We take adoptable dogs and cats to local pet stores on the weekend. This accounts for the majority of our adoptions and requires several volunteers.
Volunteer for a couple of hours or a whole day!
Fundraising Events
The Humane Society of Culpeper holds a number of major and minor events throughout the year that require plenty of planning and preparation.
Your energy and creativity would be most welcome!
Foster Care
Whenever possible, the Humane Society of Culpeper places animals that are abandonded, sick, pregnant, or nursing in foster homes.
We also seek emergency placements for adoptable animals when the need arises. Could you open your heart and home to a needy dog or cat for a few weeks or months?
Print or review our Foster Care Application form.
Animal Transportation
In any given week, we may need to transport animals to and from local veterinarians for surgery or treatment, to pet stores for adoptions, to and from foster families, or to other rescue groups.
If you have a few hours to share on a regular or occasional basis, this is a great way to help Culpeper's abandoned pets on their journey to a new life.
Spay / Neuter Clinic
We assist county residents in sending their animals to a low-cost spay/neuter clinics.
There is growing community interest in this service, and we could use more volunteers to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and coordinate drop off/pick ups.
Grant Writing
If you have experience to share in grantwriting, please let us know!
There are funds available to animal rescue groups if we just had some help doing the necessary research and paperwork.
Web/Social site Management
Keeping our website and other presence on the web up-to-date is an ever-expanding project that could benefit from some additional hands.
This could be done from a home computer, so it'd be ideal if you want to volunteer on your own schedule.
