Januray 10, 2012

As we say "goodbye" to 2011, we are thankful for all of those who participated in our Trap-Neuter-Return program (the last to participate in December is pictured here, Mr. Finneyfrock - who helped us ensure that 18 cats were spayed/neutered/released). We hope to catch up with those we missed and then start on new residents in waiting. As always, lots of work but a TON of pleasure to see the long-term benefits!

Thank You 2011 Foster Families

January 8, 2012

We'd like to thank and acknowledge our 2011 FOSTER FAMILIES who helped place 50 cats, kittens, pups or dogs throughout the year. We couldn't have done it without you!
Those are: Anne Singleton, Darlene Breeden, Barbara Verhaalen & Family, Karen Flynn, Cara Donato, Mark Schular & Kelly Randall.
Of course we also appreciate the wonderful families who adopted our animals and the support we received from the Culpeper PetSmart & Bruster's, our local adoption venues. We'd also like to recognize our recent partnership with the Friends of the Culpeper Animal Shelter (FOCAS) and three of their wonderful volunteers: Rose McKinney, Elizabeth Larsen & Laurie Counts.
As a result of our working together, many kittens and cats were helped through their foster program and our spay/neuter program (they took in the fosters through their organization and we were able to ensure those were spayed, neutered, vaccinated, prior to their adoption through their group). Those transfers or referrals worked well and we look forward to working together more in 2012!

Although we have celebrated many years of our Adoption/Foster program (10 years), we are currently in the process of phasing out our dependency upon foster families, so that we many focus more on our huge Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, where we get the most "bang for our buck". We will also continue to grow our Pet Food Pantry program and the others that serve the community in various ways. Another future project will be to improve upon ways we can engage with volunteers of all ages AND support Culpeper's own Animal Shelter (or Culpeper County Department of Animal Services on Rt. 29S). Keep checking in on our website and Facebook pages for more info!
